The year was 1976 and she became famous when she scored the first ever perfect 10 on an asymmetrical bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. In addition she scored six more perfect 10s, which made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist, only 14 years old age. Nadia Comaneci not only attracted the attention of others, but she also helped Romania establish itself as a world-class athlete. In achieving an unachievable result she became a legend and promoted gymnastics across the globe. The sport also altered the perception of female athletes.
